I know it is strange for me to comment on this (though I've used only this account for several years now, except to delete old reviews), but I get the feeling there is some sock puppets on here....it would explain the large number of accounts which post a single review or a single forum post, and nothing else after that. Who are these people, and why? Just why?

Three unrelated things:
Instrumental recording "Patches" from 1920, on the cylinder preservation website, by Lopez & Hamilton's Kings of Harmony:

Also, YouTube video I uploaded, a (1947?) instrumental recording....from Australia, ''Smoky Mokes'' by Graeme Bell & His Dixieland Jazz Band:

Also, I hope to get some "The Trouble with Father" to upload, but I can't make any promises. Some DVDs just refuse to rip properly. I hope the disc comes in the mail soon.

I hope me linking the YouTube video doesn't come across as spam. If you want me to stop linking to YouTube videos, please let me know.

Sock Puppets? I need to spend more time with other humans as the phrase was unknown to me.
However the usage does seem correct and virtual particle postings are sometimes of interest. 16 months ago there was a flurry of them created by a single user with a grudge. And of course web page self promotion is common.
Can you indicate any that are of particular interest?

P.S. Thanks for your uploads.

I can't think of a specific review or message board post, but I have no life of my own and have plenty of time to view everything that happens on this section, and sometimes see people make a single review, or a single message board post, and then disappear, never to be heard from again. I just assumed they were sock puppets (a term used on IMDb, Wikipedia, etc), given that some of these posts and reviews seemed to have been created with the intention of provoking other people on the section. (I admit some of my own posts, from when I was a teenager back in the 2000s, were just as bad, but I think I have matured a bit in the last couple years and that's no excuse for these people anyway).

Yeah, I realise I sound like a complete idiot.

I think I see what you mean about the "sock puppet" reviews. Just in recent days there have been reviews on some of the sitcoms, each with a different user name, "reviews" that are more like encyclopedia entries, followed at the tail end by a couple of letters, a slash, and a number. Seems odd, like it's not a real person but a bot posting.

Anyway, they are likely harmless, but strange, and perhaps not the "sock puppets" you had referred to previously.

Yes, they are not the kind of sock puppets I meant. Actually, they may not be sock puppets...last year someone on here suggested they were part of a school project...not sure if that is true.

Okay, I think I know now the "sock puppets" you meant. As for the reviews I noted, a school project had also crossed my mind as a possibility.

1. I am reluctant to name particular people I suspect of being sock puppets because I don't want to offend anyone. But surely you've noticed accounts that seem to exist for one day and never heard from again?

2. I am uploading an episode of "The Star and the Story" at the moment. It's an episode about two bullfighters who have a bitter rivalry. The only reason I'm uploading it is because I'm bored....and my sleeping pattern is still erratic. I've already watched eight half-hour television episodes during the night.

3. I am very worried by the fact that Heather Horwood, Charles Skase and Vic Sabrino have almost no listeners on the music site I visit. Seems like nobody is interested in Australian music of the 1950s. Admittedly most of the Australia's music of the period consisted of covers of US and UK songs, but still.....for example, Vic Sabrino is best known for issuing a cover of "Rock Around the Clock" in 1956.
